Having dreamed of an extra bedroom for as long as they could remember, our clients were hoping to unlock space in their cottage, but were struggling to find a suitable location due to the limitations of their first floor. Cotswold Design worked with them to discover a small, unused room, which was acting as a thoroughfare, with great potential to be extended to the side of the property, providing space for a generously sized double bedroom and ensuite.
With a background in groundworks and landscaping, the team were able to expertly navigate the challenging access to the site and the considerable excavation needed for the build to begin. With the extension being situated to the north of the property, a highly insulated and heat retaining timber frame was constructed and a floor to ceiling aluminium window installed to maximise the northerly light entering the space. Internally a luxury fit-out was specified with marble tiling, a niche shelf within the shower enclosure, period sliding door and recessed led strip lighting. With the addition of their much longed for fourth bedroom, our clients couldn’t be happier as they are now able to effortlessly host visiting family and friends and have also added value to the property.
